How to choose the best accounting software in Saudi Arabia
Most accounting software purchases in Saudi Arabia fail for one recurring reason: the company compares feature lists, then discovers two months later that the team has gone back to spreadsheets and WhatsApp. The list was right. The question was wrong.
The right question is not “which has more features?” but “which will still be in use in six months?”
Six criteria that actually decide it
- Saudi compliance built in, not bolted on. E-invoicing, VAT, credit and debit notes belong inside the system, not in a template a local partner adapted. Ask who updates the system when the rules change.
- Cost of operation, not licence price. The sticker price is the small part. Count training, the time of whoever enters the data, the cost of every later change, and the price of downtime. “Free” software is often the most expensive.
- Daily data entry. Systems are abandoned at the entry door, not the reporting door. If recording an invoice needs a machine, a login and five screens, it will not get recorded.
- Change without a project. Every business needs a field or a report the shipped product lacks. Ask how long adding a field takes and what it costs. If the answer is “a support ticket and a quote”, price that in.
- Your data is yours and portable. Ask before signing: how do I export everything, and in what format? A vendor who will not answer clearly is building you a lock.
- Support in your hours and your language. Arabic support during your working day, not a ticket answered in two days from another time zone.
